Today I can finally show one of my recent favorite projects, a blanket for my little new nephew, who was born yesterday evening. I wish him all the best of luck and happiness in this world and hope that we’ll get to see much of each other.
Mønster/Pattern: Baby Chalice Blanket (ravel it)
Materialer/Materials: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, colour Huron, 230 g.
Mål/Size: 60 x 85 cm
Pind/Needle: 6mm
It is wonderfully soft and cuddly, so I think it’ll be perfect to wrap around a little new life.

The multiples are 10 + 3 (+ another 2*5 each side for the garter stitch border), so you just add multiples of 10 to widen the blanket.
Best wishes and good luck

Hej Bente
Tak for rosen!

What is the point of slip 1 stitch and putting it back on the left needle? Can you just knit two stitches together thru the back loop? Jackie Branyan
November 4, 2013 at 10:20 am
Lykkefanten
When you slip the stitch knitwise you change the direction of the stitch (the front loop is now the “back” loop), when you put it back on the needle (keeping the new orientation) and k2tog tbl, it will lie flat and correctly oriented, while the second stitch is twisted. The decrease is neather (or so I think) than the SSK, but very similar – you can think of it as half of a SSK decrease 🙂
I hope this clarifies it a bit for you.
Best wishes
Karen

Just starting the Baby Chalice blanket. It’s a lovely pattern and I’m looking forward to knitting it. One question: Whenever I printed the pattern I also got a chart with it. Is the repeat on the chart incorrect? It seems to be “off” by one stitch. I could be misunderstanding something but since I prefer to work off the chart I want to clarify. Thanks so much.
August 3, 2014 at 10:27 am
Lykkefanten
The chart and the written pattern are showing different repeats, but it’s the same pattern. You should either follow one or the other. It’s something I’ve been meaning to fix for a while, and I hope to do it soon.
I hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

On the Baby Chalice what is the number for pattern repeat? My mom wants to increase. Thanks

Lykkefanten
Just add multiples of 10 sts to the cast on number 🙂
